Path to Adoption Program

At the HVBA we pride ourselves on the level of training that we give to our Brumbies. We believe that it is our responsibility to give them best possible start to domestic life, and for this reason our Brumbies are often held longer than other rescue organisations. The training program is tailored to suit each individual Brumby, with the average time taken for this process from wild to fully ground worked approximately 10 months. This means that sometimes you will be waiting and watching the progress of your favourite Brumby for some time before they become available for adoption. If the Brumby that you love if not yet available for adoption, please consider speaking to us about our "Path to Adoption" Payment Plan, which is outline below.

The 'Path to Adoption' Payment Plan provides the opportunity for  you to put down a $500 fully refundable deposit to hold the Brumby while we train it. This ensures no one else can purchase the Brumby before you. It is also a good option for those that may struggle to come up with the full adoption fee in one go. There are very strict rules for this type of adoption plan, including but not limited too:

  • Brumbies will only be placed on hold after you have visited the Brumby and paid the deposit.
  • During the training period you will need to pay a non-refundable $100 a month agistment fee (up to a maximum of $1500, the total cost of your Brumby) while we finish the training process.
  • If your Brumby becomes available before you have paid the full $1500, you will be required to pay the outstanding amount before you take your Brumby home.
  • If you decide not to take the Brumby you have paid for, there are two options:
    • You can transfer the adoption contract for one of our other Brumbies, or
    • you will be refunded the $500 deposit and you can walk away.
  • Agistment fees are non-refundable.
  • The HVBA reserves the right to nullify the contract at any time should we determine that proceeding is not in the best interest of that Brumby or you.
